Susy Atkins describes the wine as "Rich and powerful, but with a mellow, rounded finish...lovely flavours of plain chocolate and cinnamon."
Proceeds will be used to train more than 2000 disadvantaged people as wine stewards for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup.
Jancis Robinson says "Posh oak, a little dusty. Decent length, high alcohol is better integrated on the palate; fruit cake character, dark choc and spice on the finish adds some complexity, complimented by nice grip from the tannin."
We Say...
This elegant wine could easily be mistaken for a fine, traditional Bordeaux blend. In fact, it comes from South Africa and was specifically selected by the Cape Winemakers Guild to play a very special role. The proceeds from the sale of this wine have been earmarked to train more than 2000 disadvantaged people as wine stewards in time for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup. The name is derived from the isiZulu word umfundi which means 'learner' and in South Africa refers to an expert or learned person.
